I prefer the daytime for making my etchings.
Etching, for me, takes place on the surface of the plate: it is tangible. I can see and feel its surface with the pits and scratches that trap the printing ink. I can make decisions of how much ink to leave on the plate. I enjoy the rhythmic and meditative feel of working with the plate: wiping and rubbing. It is an intuitive and sensuous process for me.
I am a printmaker because I revel in that process while maintaining the message within my imagery.
