One ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo, a drive up north Vancouver Island almost as far as the highway goes to Port MacNeil, then another ferry to Alert Bay.

We camped the Boler and tent at the Ecological Park campgrounds. Local lad Aaron - camping with his family - was our tour guide.
He took us through trails, to the bog, and to the dump.

The fishing village is celebrating Sea Festival. Fear Factor Alert Bay style was better than television.
